Football Snack Helmets-New England Patirots - Go Pats!

Ok, so here’s an all time favorite for game day – My Killer Sour Cream & Onion Dip! Only this recipe is made from scratch, and I even found a great video that shows you all the steps!

Prepare One day before Game Day – or Early on Game Day to allow it to cool.

Here’s the ingredients:

1 Finely Chopped Onion (Regular Onion or Sweet – up to you!)
1 & 1/2 Cups Sour Cream
3/4 Cups Mayonnaise
Salt and Pepper
Garlic Powder (or use Real Garlic during sauteing)
Olive Oil

Optional:

Finely Chopped Fresh Chives
Fresh Chopped Cilantro or
Fresh Chopped Scallions

Directions:

Saute and caramelize chopped onions (may add chopped real garlic here) in olive oil over medium heat for 15-20 minutes.
Add salt (to your liking), and cook until lightly brown.
Scoop out and put in glass bowl and place in frig. (To cool quicker, use the freezer tip like the guy in the video)

When cool, mix 1 and 1/2 cups Sour Cream with 3/4 cups Mayo.  Mix in cooled onions (and garlic), and season to taste with salt, garlic powder, and pepper. You may even add chopped chives here as well.
Stir well, and cool again prior to the game!

When ready to serve – you may dress it up with Cilantro, Spinach, or chopped Scallions too!

Makes a Great Dip to put into the Football Snack Helmet mouth-guard tray, fill the helmet with your favorite chips and – Enjoy!

As mentioned, I found this great little video showing you – pretty much – the exact same steps. The only difference I’d make here is again, I’d use fresh garlic during the sauteing, and I also like some Chives mixed in and garnish on top. But, it’s all up to you! Whichever way you choose to dress it up, I hope you enjoy this Killer Sour Cream & Onion Dip!

There’s nothing like using fresh ingredients and real Olive Oil (non-GMO or cheaper mixed oils being sold as Extra Virgin Olive Oil). After the story broke about what’s going on with – what you thought was – real Olive Oil, I only use the real Olive Oil grown here in the U.S. from California. It’s a bit pricey, but at least you know you’re getting what you’re paying for… Once again, I hope you enjoy the Dip – and Enjoy the Game!
